Summer and Winter Moomin Mugs

Moomin mugs have undoubtedly taking over the world of collectors. Even if the prints are as simple as doodles of characters meant for children’s books, they are worth a couple of euros for its uniqueness and artistry.

Some of these Moomin mugs are only available during summer and winter seasons, which means that they become unavailable in the markets after that. For the past years since 1990, Arabia has released a couple of summer and winter Moomin mugs of different designs that have pictured what summer and winter should be like.

Summer Moomin Mugs

The first summer Moomin mug was released in 2006. It is named Dive, and its print shows Moomintroll, one of the main characters, is going for a dive. It is designed with stripes with shades of indigo. Its updated cost is €80. In 2007, another summer mug names Dolphin dive featuring Moominpappa is now costing 50. In the years 2008, 2009 and 2010, summer mugs named On The Beach with Snorkmaiden, Siesta featuring Moominpappa and Rose Garden with Moominmamma also costs €50.

The 2011 summer mug with Little My named Soap Bubbles costs around €40. In summer 2012, Primadonna’s Horse also costs the same. From 2013 and 2014 summer mugs namely Snorkmaiden And Poet and Sail With Niblings And Too-Ticky costs only €30.

There are a total of ten summer Moomin mugs. The 2015 summer mug is released but without the current information yet.

Winter Mugs

Unlike the first summer Moomin mug, the first winter Moomin mug was released in 1997 and were made available until 2002. It is named Christmas Greeting and now costs €240. The next winter mug named Christmas Mug was released in 2004 and 2005, and recently costs €150.

In 2007, another winter Moomin mug named Snowlantern is released with a cheaper price of €40. The next two years, Winter Bonfire and Christmas Surprise became available respectively and now costs €45 each. Skiing Competition winter Moomin mug was released in 2010, and now costs €35. At €30, Winter Games, Winter Forest, Under The Christmas Tree, and Skiing With Mr. Brisk of winter 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 correspondingly was made available.

Like the summer mugs, there are ten winter Moomin mugs all in all. The 2015 winter mug, however, is yet to be available.

As you can see, the older the mug, the higher its value. This is because older mugs are not available anymore in the market, more so that these types of mugs are only limited for the year’s season. But some who has it may have in it auctions because it is saleable for avid collectors of Moomin mugs.
